We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Campomaggio. The location of the Villa allowed us to see all that we wanted in the area. The staff was friendly, particularly the English/Italian gentleman, the room upgrade was gracious and much appreciated, the spa was lovely, and pool clean. We especially loved the fact that we could hike/walk directly from the Villa.
While the staff was friendly, their lack of English skills proved challenging some times when trying to make arrangements locally. Further, we came to understand that some of the women's knowledge about necessary bookings for wineries and restaurants was lacking or disparate. The breakfast as well as the lunch/dinner menu, especially, we felt were poor considering the size and/or number of guests on site. Each morning, for the entire week stay, the breakfast was the same. That was quite disappointing. Also to serve the same food at lunch on the deck as the same food served in the restaurant at dinner was also disappointing. A greater variety is necessary from a luxury hotel. The outdoor pool was too cold for us to swim in. This was our biggest disappointment. Those coming from Europe, or use to a colder climate may be satisfied, but again, to be considered a luxury hotel, a temperature controlled pool is a must:)
Location, comfort, spa, peace and quiet.
No glasses for wine in the room, no tissues.
Had a relaxing and pleasant stay. The grounds were wonderful and the room was very comfortable and was a real treat compared to most other hotels I've stayed in Italy. The spa was nice, but the outside sitting areas, pool, and terraces make the atmosphere truly relaxing.
My husband and I loved the beautiful old architecture of the building's exterior and the grandness of the entrance and grounds, yet the interior of the hotel and our bedroom and bathroom had all of the modern conveniences you would expect. Our bed was the larger than my king size bed at home. The restaurant staff were professional and our server was delightful, and the food was delicious. We were the in May 2011 before tourist season was in full swing, so we able to enjoy the surroundings and grounds before the summer madness. It was truly a wonderful place to stay. I wish we were there at this very moment and cannot wait to return.
No, our stay was perfect.
the fact that our dog could be with us in the hotel.
breakfast : the first you were the more there was, but when you were a little later you had to order everything. In the restaurant, every day the same menu, small choise. we had a very tiny room. and...this hotel is certainly not a 5 star!!!!
It's a luxury hotel villa in the the heart of chianti area where u can visit the castles around ,wine tasting & olive oil.the location of the villa is very nice, calme & relaxing, the spa is a plus, rooms are comfortable, with all facilities,u will enjoy ur stay ,
lovely coutryside all around the hotel only 35 kms to either siena or Florence and at the end of day to come back to relax by the pool or in the spa fabulous.staff very helpfull with directions or restaurant recomendations
lot of international visitors staying there french, spanish and german papers but no english ones.wi fi very hit and miss .also no english channels on tv.
This was an excellent central location in Chianti for wine tasting.
No wi-fi in the rooms....just the lobby
Massage and the Spa area. Also the beautiful countryside. The room was more than excellent. Wonderful lady who cleans the hotel and carry's the luggae as well. Massage well recommended.
If we wanted a drink at the bar we had to find a waiter downstairs in the restaurant or the receptionist. You advertised full American Breakfast when it was only a Continental Breakfast. Breakfast served between 8 and 11 am. If you went down at 9 there was hardly anything left. The safes in the room were free standing. It was pointless having them because you could carry them out of the room. Paying for a full breakfast and only getting a slice of bread and tin fruit and watered fruit juice was not good for a 5*. The price of drinks was far too high compared to the restaurants in Radda. On the whole a wonderful experience but a few things need ironing out. No tea making facilities in room.
quiet and relaxing..
... When the manager show us our room, we tried to reconfirm the room type we booked. Because we felt different. We found out later through website, the hotel gave us the Superior Double Room instead of the Junior Suite' we booked.. We felt regret with this.
The hotel is spectacular, is a beauty, clean, very kind, amiable personnel and professional, the food of the restaurant is delicious. Is a pleasure to stay itself in this hotel
The grounds, the spa was wonderful, the breakfast was enormous and delicious. Our room was gorgeous, but not overdone.
Excellent and very relaxed and quiet hotel in a fantastic location within the beautiful hills of the Chianti region. Staff extremely helpful and friendly and room was very clean. Perfect hotel to explore the Tuscan countryside and cities like Florence and Siena by car.
Absolutely nothing to complain really. Maybe a bit more variation of the (very good) breakfast buffet and some sports facilities (such as a gym) would be great.
Great room, staff, breakfast (although 5 euro for a boiled egg is too much), wellness and restaurant. The maitre/sommelier gave us good advice on wines and winehouses to visit. We were happy that they left the spa open a little longer because the weather wasn't always good. The staff was really friendly and helpful.
This a resort! Fabulous facilities, the best spa, etc. It was our best & most enjoyed stay. This place is a 9.9 rating.
