Rooms and availability
In the Room
Newly converted villa exteded with some fantastic design and carried out to an exceptionally high standard. Fabulous grounds with several areas to relax in peace and quiet.
With a little thought the services must be improved. Too few staff struggling to cope but doing there best! Room service amongst the poorest we've come across, a bar service at the pool would pay for itself! And despite 50% of the residents being american, canadian or british there wasn't a single English speaking channel let alone news channel - the TV's were therefore pointless.
The staff at Campomaggion were extremely friendly and helpful. The building and grounds were stunning as were teh views from the bedroom. There is an on-site restaurant that offers a reasonable range of food at average prices. I see some people have complained about the road leading to the Villa, there are many unmade roads in Italy and this is only a short drive from the main road although a little bumpy, but not bad enough to complain about if driven at an appropriate speed.
wonderful unforgettable landscape, many possibilites for city trip, enjoying in art and shopping
too small closet and too small shower
The Hotel is in a lovely peaceful setting with excellent facilities but it is the staff at the hotel who made this exceptional. They were extremely helpful. They were always smiling and friendly but unobtrusive.
In many ways this is to be commended as the hotel does not push itself on its clients but perhaps it could 'sell itself' more. This is not a dislike but a comment on an excellent hotel into a superb one. A list of therapies and prices in the room would perhaps entice more guests to use the 'Wellness' area and likewise menus for the restaurant. The prices for drinks and snacks were high in comparison to other hotels and again guests would be more likely to use this facility if prices were more reasonable. The staff in these areas seem to be underemployed. Finally the road to the entrance is quite challenging as it is an unmade road - this is not too bad but the final turn into the car park is difficult and needs some attention.
Excellent staff - friendly, helpful. Delicious breakfast buffet. Lovely rooms with stunning views of the beautiful Chianti countryside.
The wellness centre was a very nice change, it was different and well thought about when creating it. The pool was lovely also was the restaurant and food delicious!!
I didnt like the fact we told different information from different staff. The room was not clean, lots of spider webs and dust on the floor. A big set back was a French owner living in Italy who could only speak French so could not help anyone but French people!!!
Overall, great experience and very nice location
Staff was extremely dry and moody
The overall quality, atmosphere and the setting.
I booked a junior suite on strength of the photograph on Booked.net which showed a large room with big window and outside door. When I arrived I was given a large and very smart room but extremely dark with no outside access and a small window. I was very disappointed and when I wanted to cancel and book out the next morning was told I will have to pay for the entire booking of 4 days. They did then offer to change my room to one representing the picture on Booked.net for the last two days of my stay which I accepted.
Location and relaxing atmosphere. Great place for kids even though the appartments are connected to a 5 star hotel
WIfi in the appartment - but this is a minor issue. The quality of the kitchen equipment could be improved. - but it worked
location, view, and ability to relax at 100%
atmosphere at the hotel´s restaurant was a bit "uncozy"
Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings with great spa facilities.
Air conditioning in our room wasn't great, however we were staying over a few extremely hot days in August. Choice of food served by the hotel (both lunch time snacks and at the restaurant in evening) was limited and it is a drive to anywhere else. Attached to the hotel are a number of apartments, mainly for families, so the pool area did become busy and noisy later in the afternoon.
The location was perfect
The restaurante could have been better, at larger choise
Villa Campomaggio was a very good hotel although difficult to find, don't try to find it without good directions as without a street name the gps doesnt recognize it. Most of the staff although appearing to be very inexperienced did their best to be helpful, one mature lady in particular did not appear to care whether we were there or not. Our complaints were that the first day we arrived we were told the restaurant was closed that night due to the chef not being available, this was not good as we had to travel some way to a small town to get a meal. The noise of the air-conditioning when the fan was on high ( which was needed) was like sleeping next to an engine room and when dining in the restaurant that next night which was situated in what appeared to be a cellar we asked if we could eat outside due to it being such a lovely evening, there was no discussion only an adamant no. The hotel was very quiet with only a few guests but overall the facilities and setting was excellent.
Relaxing and enjoyable by the pool. Food was nice and fairly priced.
No gym or area to exercise.
